A festive gathering of state universities and colleges blanketed Zamboanga City for a week as the SUC Fair 2024 took center stage to amplify the Philippine higher education system.
The SUC Fair initiated by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) which is now on its fourth year, is a venue to recognize the invaluable contribution of stakeholders throughout the country in advancing higher education , research and development.
This also serves as the highlight of the celebration of CHED Anniversary with a focus on exploring strategies for navigating the global landscape through innovations, culture and arts preservation and higher education quality, the SUC rationale reads.
For this year, the event took place at the KCC Mall de Zamboanga from July 9-11, 2024 and hosted by the Western Mindanao State University, participated in by over a hundred academic institutions.
The Pangasinan State University delegation was led by University President Dr. Elbert M. Galas along with the Vice President for Local and International Affairs Dr. Ian Evangelista, Culture and Arts Director Dr. Ramil Dacal, some university officials with six faculty and student-competitors.
“PSU’s participation in this event is a manifestation of our undying commitment to supporting CHED’s pursuit of globally recognized higher education system through the convergence of innovation, education and culture,” President Galas said.
The PSU delegation teamed up with the four other SUCs in Region 1, led by CHED Regional Director Dr. Christine Ferrer, in various competitions that include: Mi Casita (Booth Exhibit); Lente ( Photography ) Voz (Quintet Vocal ); InnoVAR Research Pitching; Pintar (Painting ); Colors of Mindanao (Tiktok); Belleza (Search for Mr. and Ms. SUC Fair 2024); MAS-Musical Anthem of SUCs (Regional Music Video); SEEnatica (Same Event Edit) and CHEDzation: Watchamacallit
The Region 1 Booth featured the finest Ilocos and Pangasinan products such as: House of Abel, bangus, fine wine, probiotics products, black garlic and PSU’s Food Innovation Center products, among others.
Excitement filled the venue during the event’s kick-off program on Tuesday which had Rep. Mark Ocampo Go, Chairperson of the House Committee on Higher and Technical Education as keynote speaker followed by a presentation of the SUC Coffee Table Book to CHED, joyfully accepted by Chairperson Dr. J. Prospero De Vera.
PSU lauds this annually anticipated event as it introduces innovative platforms where products are showcased and talents are shown and shared.
