On the side of gender equality and inclusive society, PSU Bayambang Campus officials gathered together today, March 21, for the culmination of the Women’s Month Celebration.
Served as the venue, the Learning Resource Center was filled by college deans, department chairs, teaching and non-teaching staff who participated in today’s event. The participants were acknowledged by Mr. Alberto Agbuya, Member of the GAD Council, through their chant presentations highlighting the theme, “WE for gender equality and inclusive society”.
Dr. Amela T. Cayabyab, Campus GAD Coordinator, marked the official opening of the morning program. Cayabyab mentioned in her speech that gender equality and women empowerment should be one key principle by which various people should be guided in building inclusive and effective partnership.
“𝘞𝘌, 𝘸𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯 𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘭𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘵𝘺. 𝘞𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘣𝘦 𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘭”, Cayabyab added.
Further, Dr. Gudelia M. Samson, Dean of the College of Arts, Sciences, and Technology, and OIC Campus Executive Director who represented Dr. Ian Evangelista, gave an inspirational message where she encouraged everyone to continue respecting the rights and the privilege of women. She added, “𝘓𝘦𝘵 𝘶𝘴 𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘸𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘨𝘯𝘪𝘻𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘶𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘦.”
Dr. Ma. Theresa Macaltao, Dean of the College of Teacher Education, also gave an inspirational message and emphasized, “𝘓𝘢𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘢𝘺𝘰 𝘢𝘺 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘬𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘺𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘨-𝘢𝘮𝘣𝘢𝘨 𝘴𝘢 𝘪𝘴𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘢𝘺 𝘯𝘢 𝘭𝘪𝘱𝘶𝘯𝘢𝘯 𝘯𝘢 𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘨𝘬𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘺-𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘺 𝘯𝘨 𝘬𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘯.”
Moreover, the Institute of Nursing headed by Dr. Ma. Berenice Glizzle M. Catabay also extended their support to the celebration through their representative Dr. Cielo C. Fernandez, Quality Assurance Coordinator.
Meanwhile, Atty. Melinda Rose Fernandez, Lawyer III of LGU Bayambang, and a proud alumna of PSU- BC, served as the keynote speaker of the event.
“𝘐 𝘢𝘮 𝘢 𝘸𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘯; 𝘐 𝘢𝘮 𝘢 𝘮𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳,” opened Fernandez identifying that this is her most precious achievement.
Fernandez stressed in her speech that the theme of the celebration calls for women and everyone. “…𝘷𝘰𝘵𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳, 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘵𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘭𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘺. 𝘈𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘭𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘵𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳-𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘵𝘺 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘢𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘭𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘰𝘯𝘦. 𝘈 𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘵𝘺 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘶𝘢𝘭, 𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴, 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘳𝘰𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺.”
She also inspired women to never doubt their strength and never belittle their capabilities. “𝘞𝘦, 𝘸𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘴; 𝘸𝘦, 𝘸𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘳𝘴 𝘧𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘴𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘴,” she concluded.
In the end, she informed that the municipal legal office caters free legal advice and urged everyone to seek help regarding gender issues when needed.
Prior to her speech, Mr. Clifford dela Cruz of the Social Science Department and Mr. Raymark Galsim from the non-teaching staff offered Harana para kay Juana in their intermission numbers.
The morning program was officially ended by Mr. Dominador Mendoza, Non-teaching association president, and was followed by the second part of the celebration where the Campus GAD Unit along with the Campus Extension unit, visited Barangay Bani, Bayambang, for an extension/ outreach program for the women of the said locale.
The month of March is already a mark of the Women’s Month Celebration which aims to promote women empowerment; and maximize the full potential of women in the society.
