Pangasinan State University (PSU) held a distribution of financial assistance for 30 grantees of the “Abot Kamay ang Kolehiyo: Isang Bayanihan (AKKBAY) para sa mga Out-of-School Youth” program on November 6, 2024, at the PSU DVITC Library. This initiative, aimed at providing educational opportunities and support to out-of-school youth, is a collaborative effort between PSU, the provincial government of Pangasinan, local government units (LGUs), and the Guanzon Group of Companies.
The event was led by Dr. Milleohnes DG. Reyes, Deputy Director of Students and Alumni Affairs (SAA), and attended by ma’am April G. Santos, OIC Dean of Students and Alumni Affairs for the Lingayen Campus. The University SAA team and staff from the University Cashier’s Office formed the working committee responsible for the smooth implementation of the financial distribution. Scholars receiving the assistance represented PSUโs nine campuses, located in Alaminos City, Asingan, Bayambang, Binmaley, Infanta, Lingayen, San Carlos City, Sta. Maria, and Urdaneta City.
The AKKBAY scholarship program was established to offer accessible, high-quality education to young people who had previously been out of school, enabling them to pursue and complete a college degree. Launched in July 2022, the AKKBAY program received vital support from both the provincial government and various LGUs across Pangasinan. In June 2024, the program received a significant boost when the Guanzon Group of Companies, led by Mr. Guanson Lo, signed a Memorandum of Agreement with PSU, pledging financial assistance to 30 AKKBAY grantees from PSUโs campuses.
PSU expressed its profound gratitude to the Guanzon Group of Companies for their sponsorship of the AKKBAY program.
