Last January 22, 2024, members of the Pangasinan State University (PSU) Lingayen community—faculty, non-teaching staff, and dedicated student leaders—gathered at the Interfaith Chapel for the inaugural session of SpiriTalks.
This pioneering initiative exemplifies the university’s commitment to creating spaces and programs that respect and celebrate religious diversity, encouraging meaningful dialogue and mutual understanding among students of various faiths.
The session, centered on the theme “Navigating Success Through Challenges,” featured Mr. Dangal Guevara, Jr., a mentor-counselor and overseer of a Christian Church, as the guest speaker. His thought-provoking insights on thriving amidst adversity resonated with participants, transcending religious boundaries and personal beliefs. By highlighting the universal values of resilience, perseverance, and faith in one’s journey, Mr. Guevara’s talk helped foster a shared sense of purpose and common ground among attendees.
Beyond expanding the professional and personal horizons of participants, the event enriched their spiritual perspectives. SpiriTalks’ inclusive environment allowed individuals from different faith traditions to come together, learn from one another, and cultivate empathy. In doing so, PSU Lingayen promotes a campus culture grounded in respect, openness, and reciprocal growth.
As the participants departed, they carried with them renewed optimism and a broader understanding of success grounded in collective spiritual well-being. With plans already underway for future sessions, SpiriTalks promises to continue nurturing an atmosphere of inclusivity and enlightenment.
