The Pangasinan State University Golden Lions are ready for action and glory as the Region I State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) commences on February 24-28, 2025 in Batac City, Ilocos Norte.
University President Dr. Elbert M. Galas extended his best wishes to the student-athletes which he tagged as the “pride for the entire PSU community”.
“You are a testament to university’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals who excel in both academics and athletics. I am confident that you will represent our university with distinction demonstrating not only your athletic prowess but also your sportsmanship and integrity,” Dr. Galas said as he addressed the 436 student-athletes from the nine campuses of the university during the send-off program.
Dr. Arlene Kon-ek, the University Sports Director, said 356 dedicated sports athletes, who have spent months in rigorous training and pushing their limits to achieve peak performance, will compete in various sports categories- athletics, badminton, baseball, chess, lawn tennis, softball, swimming, table tennis, volleyball arnis, speak takraw, mobile legend and taekwondo.
Meanwhile, University Director for Cultural Affairs Dr. Ramil Dacal said 80 contestants are expected to dominate the cultural categories that include dance sports, banduria, standard chorale, contemporary dance, folkdance, vocal solo, piano and violin.
The PSU delegation have arrived at the host HEI, Mariano Marcos State University, on Sunday, February 23.
University officials, coaches and advisers are expected to join the Opening Program scheduled on February 24 in Laoag City.
