The 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, through the 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞, kick-started the celebration of the 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 on March 24, with an assembly of its main stakeholders-the studentry.
Bannering the theme:’ Threads of Empowerment: Weaving Women’s Stories’
and the sub theme: ‘Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang bukas sa Bagong Piliipinas’, student leaders from the nine campuses of the university convened at the audio-visual room of the main campus for a lively discussion on their roles as gender equality advocates.
𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐫. 𝐄𝐥𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐭 𝐌. 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐬 lauded and reminded the student leaders that empowerment involves many different aspects as voices, experiences and goals are all woven together in one collaborative endeavor

He went to add that storytelling alone is not enough and therefore must lead to actions by creating spaces for women to share, supporting and lifting each other up and transforming stories into policies and progress.
Topics discussed during the assembly include the ‘𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞’ presented by 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐌𝐬. 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐀𝐧𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐬 and ‘𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲’ as delivered by the 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐢𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐧, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐉𝐮𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐨 𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐚.
𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐆𝐀𝐃 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐫. 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐝 emphasized the urgency of weaving good leaders today for a brighter future.
The activity was supported by the GAD coordinators and Deans of Student Affairs from the campuses.
Other events for the Women’s Month include a Musikahan activity, self-defense seminar, charcoal painting and launching of GAD magazine.
