Embodying social responsiveness, Pangasinan State University extended support to locals of Sitio Mapita, Brgy. Laoag in Aguilar town.
A three-day event, January 29-31, ran several activities through the adopt-a-sitio program of the Extension Services Office of the University.
The event started with an orientation on cybersecurity, recognizing the critical need to protect the village from the evolving threats of the digital age. Residents, including teachers, local leaders and community members, absorbed valuable insights to safeguard their online presence.
Moreover, series of workshops on drafting Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and Simple Communication Letters using Microsoft (MS) Word led by faculty members of PSU-Lingayen Campus guided the participants through the intricacies of document creation.
The highlight of the said activity was the turnover ceremony of the UNDP – VSAT Free Wi-Fi for All project.
Joining the turnover ceremony were Mr. Elvis E. Cayabyab, the Provincial Director of DICT RO1, Dr. Enrique P. De Los Santos, Jr., Provincial Officer of NCIP, Mr. Rodolfo Mallari, Chieftain of Mapita ICC, Dr. Melchor Mallari, Teacher-in-Charge at Mapita IS, Hon. Betty Ocal Ballesteros, barangay captain of Laoag and Mr. Joebert D. Ballesteros, Campus Extension Coordinator of Lingayen and one of the Centerheads of PSU, Dr. Nova E. Arquillano.
PSU, led by University President Dr. Elbert M. Galas, embedded the idea of extension services not only to comply to mandates but also to serve as avenue in promoting volunteerism towards development.
