A testament of Pangasinan State University’s longevity are alumni homecomings from various class batches.
Spanning 59 years since their graduation, former students of PSU
Bayambang, formerly known as Pangasinan Normal School (PNS), gathered at the Consuelo Hotel in Lingayen town to take part in the Alumni Reunion.
Donning colorful Hawaiian outfits, some 50 PSU alumnus from Sections 1 to 11 greeted and hugged each other as the connections with classmates, colleagues and friends were re-lived.
𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗿. 𝗘𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗠. 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘀, the first PSU alumnus to be elected its president, served as the guest of honor and speaker and reminisced on the university’s humble beginnings into what it is now.
“Being an academic institution, we should be exhibiting consistent excellent performance along instruction, research, extension and production. We have ventured into internationalization, we are producing top notchers, we are Centers of Excellence and we are recognized nationally in research and quality assurance. We owe this to all of you as pillars of PSU, as our early batch of alumni, our dear lolos and lolas,” President Galas said told the alumni group.
He added: “We are just continuing and sustaining your legacy. Without you, PSU is nothing.”
Batch 1967 core group convener Ret. Lt. Col. Albert Maningding, former Director of the Department of Agriculture, said his batch had 523 graduates. To date, more than a hundred have passed away, some 82 have been residing abroad and most of those present in the event are at least 80 years old.
Convenor Clarita Ferrer-Tagab added that Batch ’67 held its reunion in Villasis in 2024 and in Bayambang in 2025. She said the group is preparing for its 60th year anniversary next year.
The reunion featured heartwarming musical numbers, games, dance contest and awarding of certificates of distinction.
Anchored on the theme ‘Holding on Together, Forever’ the alumni homecoming serves as a manifestation of goodwill, unending service to the community and the unbreakable bond of the men and women of PSU.
