Pangasinan State University (PSU) and the Department of Science and TechnologyโIndustrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI) have formally entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), February 4, 2026, at the DOST Compound, in Taguig City, to strengthen collaboration in research, training, technology innovation and community development initiatives.

“We are optimistic that the partnership will enhance research and innovation and contribute to inclusive and sustainable development,” President Galas said.
Under the MOU, both institutions recognize the value of research-based collaboration in addressing the needs of academe, industry, and local communities. The partnership also emphasizes the importance of training and capacity-building programs for faculty members, researchers, students, technical personnel, and community stakeholders.
Key areas of collaboration outlined in the agreement include joint research activities, implementation of training programs and workshops, development and transfer of innovative technologies, and community development initiatives focused on sustainable livelihoods and improved quality of life. The partnership also supports digital transformation, applied research, and technology commercialization to contribute to economic growth and societal advancement.
As part of its responsibilities, PSU will initiate and implement collaborative research and extension programs, monitor and evaluate project progress, participate in technology and solid waste management training, and prepare reports on research and extension activities. Meanwhile, DOST-ITDI will actively engage in joint research and extension initiatives and provide specialized training on solid waste management, innovative technologies, and product development.
The MOU is intended to promote sustained institutional collaboration while ensuring that specific programs, projects, or activities will be implemented through separate agreements or work plans, subject to mutual consent.
