As part of its mission to foster a culture of excellence across the Philippine academic landscape, Pangasinan State University hosted benchmarking activity with the University of Northern Philippines (UNP) on April 8, 2026, focused on the Philippine Quality Award framework.

The PQA is the country’s highest national recognition for performance excellence, and UNP’s visit was strategically designed to study PSU’s proven models in institutional quality management. The session, held at the Office of the President’s conference room via Zoom Meeting, featured in-depth discussions with PSU’s Quality Assurance Heads, led by Dr. Celeste T. Mercado, Vice President for Quality Assurance, and Asst. Prof. William Cayetano, Director for Local Accreditation.

The discussion centered on PSU’s aligned operations with PQA criteria, particularly in areas of strategic planning, workforce engagement, and results-driven operations. Dr. Eva Marie C. Avila, UNP’s director of the Quality Management Office and Head of Delegation, noted that the technical depth of PSU’s strategies provides vital roadmap for UNP as they advance their own PQA journey and strive for national performance recognition.
University President, Dr. Elbert M. Galas, reaffirmed PSU’s dedication on strengthening institutional partnerships despite current global energy protocols. By sharing PQA-aligned blueprints, PSU continues to set the standard for institutional effectiveness and quality-driven leadership in higher education.
