Under the leadership of 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐫. 𝐄𝐥𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐭 𝐌. 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐬, PSU continues to advance an institutional direction that places research and innovation as key drivers of knowledge creation, technology development, and societal impact.
The ₱4.9-million grant provides the University with additional resources to strengthen the systems and capacities needed to move promising research outputs toward intellectual property protection, technology transfer and commercialization.
For Dr. Galas, the initiative reflects the University’s continuing commitment to ensuring that research does not end with the generation of knowledge but is carried forward through mechanisms that enable its application and wider use.
“We want our research outputs to create value beyond the University. By building our capacity in intellectual property management and technology transfer, we can provide our researchers with clearer pathways for their innovations to reach industry and communities,” Dr. Galas said. “Through this initiative, we can further develop the institutional mechanisms that will help translate promising research outputs into technologies and applications that can create value beyond the University.”
Meanwhile, 𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡, 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐫. 𝐑𝐚𝐳𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐆. 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐲 will lead the University’s implementation of research and innovation initiatives under the IMPACT NXT Program. The initiative will advance PSU’s capabilities in intellectual property management, technology assessment, protection, marketing, licensing, technology transfer, and commercialization, while facilitating the identification and assessment of research outputs with potential for wider utilization.
The grant marks another step in PSU’s efforts to establish a more integrated pathway between research and application, creating mechanisms through which university-generated knowledge and technologies can progress toward the industries and communities they are intended to serve.
