Pangasinan State University has a fresh shot in the arm.

Graduating with honors for academic year 2019-2020, five (5) out of twenty seven (27) scholars of the Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) are from Pangasinan State University and are off to bolster the community as they were honored during the “In Touch with Excellence” held on February 24, 2021 via MS Teams.


“In Touch with Excellence” is a tribute to all DOST-SEI scholars who graduated with Latin honors and recognition of University coordinators and outstanding performance of ongoing scholars in Region 1. Present at the said event were, Dr. Armando Q. Ganal – Regional Director of DOST I, Dr. Josette T. Biyo – Keynote Speaker and Director of DOST-SEI, Provincial S&T Directors and other concerned officials of DOST.


Among the scholar-graduates who received an award and delivered their testimonies was Mr. John Joseph D. Zarate, Magna Cum Laude, from PSU-Bayambang Campus. According to Mr. Zarate, “the DOST scholarship fueled our aspirations and helped us achieve our impossible dreams. As a graduate-scholar, we should continue to embody the vision of DOST and help build our nation. Tayo ay iskolar ng bayan, para sa bayan.”


Aside from Mr. Zarate, other scholar-graduates from PSU were honored: Fremel B. Macayana – Cum Laude (PSU Bayambang); Kesha Mae A. Sagaoinit – with Academic Distinction (PSU Bayambang); Sahra A. Vicente – with Academic Distinction (PSU Urdaneta City) and Jade N. Mijares – Finalist Gawad Parangal 2020 (PSU Urdaneta City).


In addition, Prof. Evelyn B. Lomboy received a notable citation for being the Scholarship Coordinator of the Year while Pres. Dexter R. Buted, University President and Ms. Amela T. Cayabyab and Mr. Christian Carvajal, Scholarship Coordinators received recognition for their invaluable support in the programs of DOST. Lastly, Mr. Francis Ryan G. Ramos an on-going DOST-SEI scholar from PSU-Bayambang was given the Leadership Excellence Award for his commendable contribution in the community during the COVID-19 Pandemic./jjdz
