A sea of yellow-clad employees of Pangasinan State University filled the halls of the Sison Auditorium and Convention Hall in Lingayen town to take part in the university -wide learning and development session organized by the management though the Human Resources and Management Office.
More than a thousand employees of PSU from the teaching and non-teaching force in the nine campuses trooped to the heart of Pangasinan to show their commitment in cultivating continuous learning, ethical leadership and service excellence on October 1, 2025.
Bannering the theme โUnified in Service, Empowered in Leadership, Effective in Action,โ the L&D training series is a combination of plenary session, targeted break-out discussions and asynchronous learning modes to ensure that each employee group receives relevant, practical and engaging learning experiences.
University President Dr. Elbert M. Galas said the activity reflects PSUโs commitment to a culture of excellence, where professional growth is both an individual responsibility and an institutional priority.
โThis event also captures with precision, the very ethos that should inspire our institution. Unity in service implies that each employee, regardless of role, position, academic rank or designation, contributes to a shared mission of nurturing minds, and transforming lives of our dear students. Empowered leadership entails cultivating within ourselves the courage, accountability, and foresight to guide others, while remaining grounded in our core values and principles. Effectiveness in action, on the other hand, calls us to translate values into tangible results, ones that directly uplift our students, our stakeholders, and our communities,โ President Galas said as he addressed the 1,200-strong personnel.
In addition, Vice President for Local and International Affairs and concurrent Chief Administrative Officer for Administration Dr. Ian Evangelista said, despite several challenges, PSU employees continue to show up, serve and commit themselves for the better good.
โTrue service is not measured by numbers. It is measured by heart, commitment, quiet resilience and perseverance even when things get tough,โ Dr. Evangelista quipped.
Accordingly, Ms. Carelle Mangaliag-Herrera, chief executive officer of Trainstation International and her team led the plenary session workshops on โEmpowered to Serveโ and โEmpowered to Lead Togetherโ
Breakout sessions for faculty members include topics on โUnderstanding the 21st Century Learnersโ while non-teaching personnel attended the discussion on Professional Effectiveness on Time and Productivity Management.
An asynchronous learning mode continued on the second day, October 2.
At the end of the day, PSUnians proudly embodied one of its tagline: โAt PSU, we are happy to be here!โ
