Cultural treasures and a certificate mark strengthening academic partnership as Lingayen Campus Executive Director, Dr. Marie Claire Briones returns to Pangasinan State University from the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Kuala Pilah Campus in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia bearing more than just memories—she brought home a collection of meaningful tokens that symbolize the deepening bond between the two institutions following the successful Global Learning Outreach Week (GLOW) 2026.

Among the items brought home is a Certificate of Appreciation formally recognizing Pangasinan State University as an “OFFICIAL COLLABORATOR” of GLOW Philippines 2026. The certificate, signed by Associate Professor TS. Dr. Noorlis Ahmad, Acting Rector of UiTM Negeri Sembilan Branch, acknowledges PSU’s “valuable collaboration and contribution” to the event.

A stunning framed batik painting featuring vibrant purple and magenta tropical flowers with green foliage against a blue-purple gradient background represents the rich artistic heritage of Malaysia. The traditional batik art form, recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage, showcases the intricate craftsmanship and aesthetic sensibilities of Malaysian culture.
Perhaps one of the most culturally significant tokens is the Tengkolok Solok Timbo – a traditional Malay ceremonial headdress elegantly displayed in a glass case. The purple patterned tengkolok, adorned with an official emblem, represents the royal and academic traditions of Negeri Sembilan.
This traditional headwear is typically worn during formal ceremonies and signifies honor, respect, and cultural pride. Its presentation to PSU President Dr. Elbert M. Galas reflects the high esteem in which UiTM holds its Philippine partner institution.

Finally, a crystal acrylic trophy bearing the “UiTMcNS” (UiTM Cawangan Negeri Sembilan) lettering completes the collection of tokens. The plaque features the inscription “PENGHARGAAN & TERIMA KASIH” (Appreciation & Thank You) and “IKHLAS DARI REKTOR” (Sincerely from the Rector), expressing the genuine gratitude of UiTM’s leadership.

These tokens represent more than ceremonial gifts—they embody PSU’s strategic direction under President Dr. Elbert M. Galas, who once said that the global aspiration of the university is no longer an aspiration – “It is now being lived.”
