Pangasinan State University (PSU) hosted a benchmarking activity on EOMS certification with Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) on September 10, 2025.

𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕, 𝑫𝒓. 𝑬𝒍𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒕 𝑴. 𝑮𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒔, said that PSU remains open to accommodating higher education institutions (HEIs) in their shared commitment to quality education.

Dr. Galas, former Director and Vice President for Quality Assurance and a prime mover of quality mechanisms in the university, personally welcomed the MMSU delegation.

“Please know that PSU is truly grateful for your interest in learning from our best practices. We may not hold the best mechanisms in all areas, but we assure you that we will always give our best in pursuit of our common goal, answering the call for excellence,” Dr. Galas said.

The Office of the Vice President for Quality Assurance (OVPQA), headed by VP Dr. Celeste T. Mercado, led the presentation of PSU’s best practices.

“We join you in pursuing quality in your university. We hope this activity will benefit both our institutions, as it is a good avenue to learn from each other,” VP Mercado added.

Joining her were OVPQA Directors Dr. Randy Joy Ventayen and Asst. Prof. William Cayetano, who also shared insights on PSU’s systems and practices.

Discussions during the meeting covered faculty evaluation, local accreditation and curriculum-related concerns, along with areas in academics, research and internationalization.

Directors Ms. Marienuelle T. Aquino, Ms. Leizel Del Castillo, and Unit Head Dr. Regina F. Santos also took part in the benchmarking activity.

In his response, MMSU Vice President and head of the delegation, Dr. Ariis Reynold V. Cajigal, expressed confidence in partnering with PSU for the initiative.

“Other than pioneering quality mechanisms, PSU has long been our partner HEI in many initiatives. We are confident that tapping PSU for this endeavor will greatly help us,” Dr. Cajigal said.
