In the recent CHED COVID Advisory no. 7 released on May 24, 2020, includes the draft guidelines in the implementation of flexible learning which encourages the HEIs to maximize the use of technology to support teaching and learning which may include the delivery      of         programs         based on        the connectivity of the students, establishment of a multi-media or learning resource center to provide          support.           Given   the       above instructions, the University proposed the “Pangasinan HEI’s-LGU ICT Konek.”

  1. ALL municipalities and cities will cater an average of 35 students per center. (Clustered Barangays and Covered  Courts / Civic Centers)
  2. PSU Non-teaching staff will be assigned to check the facilities installed (if needed by LGU) to assure the running condition of computers.
  3. Average of 5 computers will be given to LGU from PSU in support to the existing computers and facilties of LGU for the project. Basis of the computer distribution will be the  number of enrolled students from the municipality and  cities
  4. SMART Corporation will provide pocket WIFI to support internet connection of the ICT KONEK CENTER

AFTER SUCCESSFULLY PLANNING the university’s ICT Konek project, PSU had

productively partnered with 26 municipalities in Pangasinan to provide learning spaces with ICT facilities to students. Now, there are four (4) operational ICT-Konek projects all over Pangasinan.

According to Dr. Dexter R. Buted, University President, “We are at the right track doing our best in order to support the academic standing of our students. That way, we can help one another ease the troubled minds of our people and make them feel that the government through the Pangasinan State University is in control of ensuring that their dreams about their future is still possible.”

1st Operational ICT Konek in Pangasinan

the ICT Konek Project of Pangasinan State University with Hon. Kenneth Marco Perez, Municipal Mayor of San Manuel last August 19, the town’s two storey, fully furnished building is the newest internet hub for hundreds of San Manuelians as of October 27, 2020. It is notable that one of the best practices of PSU is its linkages and partnership with the Local government Units (LGUs) which paved way for the dawning of the ICT Konek.

Students from Urdaneta City, Sta. Maria and Asingan will roister online learning amidst the pandemic. It is the primordial goal of the said project to hammer out online mode of learning and make it accessible to rural and remote areas. Hat tip to the Local Government Unit of San Manuel, focal persons and especially the officials of Pangasinan State University headed by Dr. Dexter R. Buted for creating a learning space for all students.

Among the 26 municipalities who signed a memorandum of agreement with PSU for the ICT Konek Project, San Manuel is the very first LGU to blast off the said project. Indeed, alone we can do so little, but together we can do as much.
