Pangasinan State University (PSU) President ๐๐ซ. ๐๐ฅ๐๐๐ซ๐ญ ๐. ๐๐๐ฅ๐๐ฌ participated in the Commission on Higher Educationโs (CHED) 32nd Anniversary Culminating Activity held on June 10, 2026, at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.
The event, dubbed โStrategic Partnership Convergence,โ carried the theme โACHIEVE-ing Knowledge Economy for a Future-Ready Bagong Pilipinas,โ aimed at further advancing the Philippine higher education sector.
Gathering key figures in the countryโs academic and policy landscape, the activity featured the State of the Higher Education Address (SOHEA) delivered by ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ก๐๐ข๐ซ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐จ๐ง ๐๐ซ. ๐๐ก๐ข๐ซ๐ฅ๐๐ฒ ๐. ๐๐ ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฉ๐ข๐ฌ, alongside the ceremonial signing of guidelines on the release of funds for Free Higher Education deficiencies for State Universities and Colleges (SUCs)โa move seen to further strengthen institutional sustainability and access.
Among the distinguished national education leaders were CHED Commissioners ๐๐ซ. ๐๐ฒ๐ซ๐ง๐ ๐. ๐๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ซ๐ข who is also PSU’s Board of Regents Chairperson, ๐๐ซ. ๐๐ข๐๐ก๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ ๐. ๐๐ง๐ , ๐๐ซ. ๐๐ข๐๐ฆ๐๐ซ ๐. ๐๐ช๐ฎ๐ข๐ง๐จ, ๐๐ซ. ๐๐๐ฌ๐ข๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐จ ๐. ๐๐ฉ๐๐ ๐๐๐, ๐๐ซ. ๐๐ก๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐๐๐จ๐ซ-๐ ๐๐ซ๐ซ๐๐ซ, Director IV for CHED-International Affairs Service (IAS), and Dr. Cherrie Melanie Ancheta – Diego, CHED RO1 Director, whose policy leadership continues to steer the direction of higher education reforms in the country.
Supporting the implementation of CHEDโs programs was ๐๐ซ. ๐๐๐ง ๐๐ฏ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐, Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the Deputy Executive Director IV and concurrent Chief of Staff in the Office of the CHED Chairperson, playing a crucial role in institutional coordination at the central level.
Also in attendance was ๐๐ซ. ๐๐๐ฑ๐ญ๐๐ซ ๐. ๐๐ฎ๐ญ๐๐, CEO and Administrator of the Philippine Coconut Authority and former PSU President, whose presence highlights the enduring link between academic leadership and national development.
Representing the unified voice of state universities and colleges, PASUC President ๐๐ซ. ๐๐ข๐ซ๐ฌ๐จ ๐. ๐๐จ๐ง๐ช๐ฎ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐จ, and PASUC-1 officials were likewise in attendance, advocating for strengthened collaboration and institutional advancement across the SUC sector.
Equally distinguished leader was ๐๐ซ. ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐๐๐๐ฅ ๐๐จ, Executive Director of the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), who reinforced the critical role of accreditation in sustaining quality and excellence among SUCs.
The event also brought together presidents and heads of various State Universities and Colleges across the country, further solidifying a unified front in addressing challenges and advancing innovations within the higher education system.
