Pangasinan State University has strengthened its quality assurance standing as six academic programs across campuses earned Level III and Level IV re-accredited status from the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Inc.
Leading the latest accreditation results are three programs that attained Level IV Re-accredited status: the Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLEd) of Lingayen Campus, and the AB in English Language and BS in Information Technology of Urdaneta City Campus. The BTLEd accreditation is valid until June 15, 2031, while the two Level IV programs of Urdaneta City Campus are valid until June 30, 2031.
University President 𝗗𝗿. 𝗘𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗠. 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘀 attributed the achievement to PSU’s sustained commitment to strengthening academic programs and embedding quality assurance in the University’s operations.
“Accreditation is more than a recognition of what we have accomplished; it is a measure of our continuing responsibility to our students. Every program that advances in accreditation reflects the collective work of our faculty, personnel and administrators to provide an education that meets, and continually strives to exceed the standards of quality and relevance,” President Galas said.
The programs underwent AACCUP assessment activities in June 2026.
Meanwhile, Level III Re-accredited status was granted to the BS in Business Administration major in Marketing Management of Asingan Campus; BS in Civil Engineering of Urdaneta City Campus; and BS in Office Administration of San Carlos City Campus. The three programs have re-accreditation validity until 2030.
The latest results build on PSU’s continuing efforts to institutionalize quality assurance across its campuses. Earlier this year, President Galas emphasized that accreditation provides the University with a sound basis for improvement, strategic planning, restructuring and staff development.
Central to the University’s accreditation initiatives is the Office of the Vice President for Quality Assurance (OVPQA) headed by Dr. Celeste T. Mercado, which works with the campuses in strengthening compliance, documentation, institutional assessment and continuous improvement mechanisms. PSU’s official roster of University officials confirms Mercado as Vice President for Quality Assurance.
The accomplishment was likewise supported by the leadership of the Campus Executive Directors of the four campuses involved: Dr. Marie Claire M. Briones, CED of Lingayen Campus; Dr. Roy C. Ferrer, CED of Asingan Campus; Dr. Renato E. Salcedo, CED of Urdaneta City Campus; and Dr. Gudelia M. Samson, CED of San Carlos City Campus. Their current designations are reflected in PSU’s official roster of University officials.
To date, PSU holds 19 programs with Level IV accreditations and 41 programs with Level III status.
With the latest AACCUP Board Actions, PSU continues to advance a culture in which accreditation serves not merely as a compliance requirement but as a mechanism for continuous institutional improvement, advancing academic programs and ensuring that PSUnians receive education responsive to professional, national and global standards.
