Paving the way for a more concerted effort towards internationalization, units under the Office of the Vice President for Local and International Affairs (OVPLIA) convened for a division meeting on April 11.

Dr. Ian D. Evangelista, VP for the newly created division, said aligning the processes, systems and targets as well as addressing societal needs are necessary for the unit to be contributory to the goal of internationalization.

“A lot of opportunities are waiting but first we have to know our school, our campus and our capacity by heart. Building the values of students and employees precedes any activity or program. Your positions and designations are crucial to the attainment of our goals,” Dr. Evangelista said to the campus coordinators of the various units present at the Sunflower Hall of the Golden Lion Hotel.

The Vice President also emphasized the creation of uniformity of branding in all campuses and development of curriculum attuned to the needs of the industry. He also urged the participants to be compassionate teachers.

“Remember that we have to act locally but think globally. Glocal efforts would lead us to our goal of educating and preparing our students for employment. PSUnians that are worth employing and PSUnians who embody the branding of excellence wherever they go,” he stressed.

Offices under the OVPLIA include the International Relations (Ms. Leziel Del Castillo), Global Citizenship Education (Dr. Cristeta Dulos), Special Projects (Dr. Lorena Echalar ), Public Relations and Information (Asst. Prof. Venus May Sarmiento), Continuing Professional Development (Mr. John Joseph Zarate), International Extension Partnership (Dr. Jesusa Sanchez) and Faculty and Student Mobility (Dr. Krigher Simbulan)
