The Department of Education’s attached agency, Teacher Education Council Secretariat (TECS), spearheaded a Forum on October 19-20 held at the Linden Suites, Ortigas Center, Pasig City, Metro Manila.

The Pangasinan State University, tagged as Center of Excellence for Teacher Education, joined other teacher education-COE universities along with the National Network of Normal Schools (3NS) and Polytechnic University of the Philippines on the said two-day convergence.

Anchored on its title ‘Inspire, Prepare and Elevate Teacher Education: TECS 2023 Call for Research’, the convergence united esteemed educators, researchers, and stakeholders in the field of teacher education and serve as a platform for collaborative projects that will be geared towards sharing legislation, policies, plans and programs for teacher welfare and teacher quality.

PSU, through the Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension, Innovation and Gender and Development (REIGn) headed by Dr. Razeale G. Resultay was represented by the Head for CHED Initiated Quality Assurance Program Dr. Ethel Reyes-Chua.

To date, the said event was initiated in reference to the Convergence Forum on Research in Teacher Education in August of this year in response to the implementation and regulation of RA 11713 that deals on the enhancement of pre-service teacher education and in-service teacher development quality by expanding TEC’s functions, including research coordination for policy formulation and implementation.

PSU led by the University President Dr. Elbert M. Galas, is committed as contributory body in shaping trajectory excellent development of teacher education in the country.
