The Pangasinan State University warmly welcomed officials of the Professional Regulatory Board of Nutrition and Dietetics of the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) in their January 19 monitoring visit to the academic institution.

The visit aims to assess PSU’s Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics (BSND) program at the Lingayen Campus.

PRC officials namely Madame Virgith B. Buena, chairperson for the Board of Nutrition & Dietetics (PRC) and Members of the Board to include Ms. Imelda A. Agdeppa and Ms. Rhoda Joy R. Buenviaje, clarified that the intention of the visit is not to find fault or mistakes but to check and give recommendations for the development and progress of the program.

“We are delighted for the accommodation given by the university. We are here to share intervention and not to find fault [in your program]. We are here to provide problem-specific solutions, ” Ms. Buena said.

The visit focused on PSU Nutrition and Dietetics profile, facilities and equipment, curriculum, data of enrollment and passing rate, practicum programs and admission procedures.

The PSU-BSND team accommodated the experts for a meeting at the Kalachuchi Hall of the PSU-owned Golden Lion Hotel and presented the documents required for the evaluation.

Additionally, the PRC team made an ocular visit to check the status of the facilities in the HRMTC, resources in the library and facilities of the nutrition clinic in the Infirmary building.

PSU’s Director for Research Development, Dr. Randy Joy M. Ventayen, thanked the PRC- Board of Nutrition and Dietetics officials for their support in the board programs of the University.

“Thank you for all the recommendations that would improve not only our faculty profile but of the whole institution as well. These are duly noted and would be our important concern since we value the BS Nutrition and Dietetics Program in Pangasinan as only few educational institutions offer this course,” Dr. Ventayen expressed.

Other PSU officials present in the visit were Dr. Renato E. Salcedo, the Executive Director of Lingayen Campus, Mr. Jufri M. Narvas the Dean of the College of Arts, Sciences and Letters, and the BSND Faculty headed by their chairperson, Ms. Geraldine M. Niñeza.

PSU, committed in meeting the standards set by regulatory institutions, is radiantly ready to take every step to maintain, comply and embody quality standards.
