The widely-recognized Food Innovation Center (FIC) of the Pangasinan State University located at Bayambang Campus once again displayed its prominence and glow when it took part in the 2023 βRambak Ti Siyensya: Regional Science, Technology and Innovation Week (RSTW)β organized by the Department of Science and Technology-Region 1 (DOST-1).
In a booth designed with Pangasinan products, the PSU-DOST 1 FIC showcased a diverse array of food technologies that were developed to enhance food quality, prolong shelf life and provide convenience.
Among the innovations presented were vacuum-packed classic calamay, vacuum-packed baked tupig, bagoong powder, red onion powder, binagoongang bangus, vacuum-fried squash and okra, ginisang buro, and probiotic drinks such as the kefir and kombucha.
University President Dr. Elbert M. Galas personally joined the FIC technology presenters and exhibitors led by PSU faculty Ms. Irene Urbano, CIP Graduate Fellow Ms. Meryl Bernardino and Project Technical Aide Ms. Monica May Varilla.
The PSU-DOST 1 FIC looks forward to developing more technologies that will benefit the region and the country as a whole.
Incidentally, the three-day event was also highlighted by the Memorandum of Agreement Signing among DOST, LGU-Alaminos City and PSU for the establishment of the Smart and Sustainable Communities in Region 1.
