Cognizant of the vital role of all units in providing effective and excellent service to its students and other stakeholders, Pangasinan State University remains steadfast in its commitment to developing its most important resource—its human assets.

Thus, PSU personnel continuously undergo trainings and staff development activities to upskill and capacitate the staff.

On June 21, personnel of the Library Services Unit, under the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Student Services, attended an In-house Training and Development at the Learning Resource Center, PSU Bayambang Campus.

The training was conducted to re-orient the University’s campus librarians, faculty-in-charge, and library staff about the Technology Empowerment for Education, Employment, Entrepreneurs, and Economic Development (Tech4ED) program of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) as well as to capacitate them in Thesis Digitalization and Library System.

Mr. Elvis E. Cayabyab, officer-in-charge, provincial officer of DICT Region I in Pangasinan in his talk, reiterated the aim of the Tech4ED program in harnessing ICT to bridge the digital divide and alleviate poverty in the unserved and underserved communities in the Philippines.

“It is important to establish sustainable Tech4ED Centers nationwide as a delivery channel of ICT-enabled services and content for the socio-economic development towards the quality of life,” Cayabyab said.

Following his talk was a refresher on Tech4ED program conducted by Ms. Frauline G. Bentayon, DICT Region I’s Project Development Officer I.

Tech4ED is a national digital inclusion initiative establishing eCenters that provide critical e-government and ICT-enabled services in communities with minimal or no access to information and government services.

To better equip the library personnel in operating the Digital Thesis and Dissertations System Kiosk, a hands-on workshop was conducted by Mr. Jonathan Pantaleon, Assistant Librarian of PSU Lingayen Campus.

Ms. Mary Ann Mangapot, Head of the University Library Services, encouraged all the participants to elevate the library as a true shrine of learning.
