  5. PSU pursues quest for ISO 21001:2018

Bounded by the unrelenting pursuit for the development of management systems, the Pangasinan State University resumes its quest for higher International Standards.

The preparations for ISO 21001:2018 continues this month with the transition from the Quality Management Standards (QMS) to the Educational Organization Management Systems (EOMS).

The three-day activity commenced with a meeting attended by officials from the Office of the Vice-President for Administration, Director for Institutional Assessment and Accreditation and the University Document Control Custodian (DCC). This was followed by another meeting that involved University and Campus DCCs who also underwent a writeshop. On the third day, additional participants from various offices of the university joined the conference.

Engr. Angelica C. Fraginal, Managing Director of the ACF Consultancy and Training Services, serves as the university’s EOMS consultant who provided a walk-through of the university’s next steps in the quest for excellence. The outline includes: re-visiting the requirements of ISO 21001:2018; ‘To Do’s’ based on gap analysis and responsibilities; EOMS documentation , template and status; and implementation plan and timetable.

The EOMS Consultant encouraged all process owners to find time to submit all the requirements stipulated in the guidelines and timetable, without prejudice to the regular tasks assigned to them.

The series of preparatory meeting was initiated by PSU President Dr. Dexter R. Buted and supported by the university’s Vice- Presidents, to wit, Dr. Elbert M. Galas, Dr. Manolito C. Manuel, Dr. Marcelo Gutierrez, Dr. Paulo Cenas and Dr. Corazon Puzon, along with the Campus Executive Directors, Office Directors and Unit Heads.

PSU, the sole educational institution accorded the Philippine Quality Award Level III Recognition, remains a stalwart of academic excellence and quality management services, responsive to the needs of its clientele in the countryside.
