  5. South convenes with North: CMU Benchmar...

Fostering excellence and greater continuity of development, the Pangasinan State University hosted a benchmarking activity with the Central Mindanao University on July 04, 2022 at the Board Room of PSU Main Campus.

The meeting of minds capitalized on the presentation of PSU’s journey in acquiring the Philippine Quality Award Level III: Mastery in Quality Management Led by the visionary University President Dr. Dexter R. Buted, along with the Vice President for Administration and Linkages Dr. Elbert M. Galas and the Vice President for Quality Assurance Dr. Marcelo C. Gutierrez, Jr., the visit expounded on the insights, first-hand experiences and challenges encountered by PSU during the preparation.

Dr. Galas, who was the Quality Assurance chief during the assessment period, told the visiting group that the PQA is not an easy journey, neither did it happen overnight, but the cooperation of every personnel at PSU made it happen.

“There is a need to establish the Quality Management System, gain the support of everyone and instill positive attitude towards the goal.” Dr. Galas advised.

On the other hand, Dr. Gutierrez said “Benchmarking activities are part of who we are as government servants – handang tumulong para sa ikauunlad ng lahat,”

The engagement transitioned to an open forum that centered on tasking strategies, technical training, data gathering, compliance to regulatory requirements and implementation budget, among others.

The top management was joined by other university officials to include: Director for Presidential Management and Liaison Office Dr. Billy T. Festijo, Director for Institutional Assessment and Accreditation Prof. William V. Cayetano, Director for Monitoring and Evaluation Office Dr. David Livingstone T. Ramos, Director for Research and Development Office Dr. Larry A. Santos, and the OIC-Director for Public Relations, Publication and Information Office Prof. Venus May H. Sarmiento.

The Central Mindanao University delegation, who came all the way from the Academic Paradise of the South, was headed by their Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Jose Alexander Abella, accompanied by other university officials.

Since earning the highly sought-after PQA Level III: Mastery in Quality Management in November 2021, PSU, under the steadfast leadership of Dr. Buted , has served as a focal point for other educational institutions around the nation looking to improve their system processes and people management.
